1500 Evolving List and 1850 Tournament List

With less than a month till my tournament I have decided on a list that I will be taking, I will be practicing with it as much as I can and see what I need to do to win with it, or if anything dramatically needs to change. I have also come up with a 1500 point list that I feel will dramatically improve my odds in that arena as well as my previous evolving list failed dramatically, a kind of re-boot if you will.

Starting with the 1850 point list that is purely for tournament use, unfortunately I can’t really take credit for this list as Yeeman came up with it based on the models I have and a previous list I attempted to make. He seems a lot more skilled at this that I am.

Farseer – 115 (warlord) w/dark reapers
Spirit stone of Anath’lan

Spiritseer – 70

5 Wraithguard – 165
Wave serpent – 135
Twin-linked scatter laser, holo field

10 guardians – 110
Bright lance
Wave serpent – 135
Twin-linked scatter laser, holo field

10 Guardians – 110
Bright lance
Wave serpent – 135
Twin-linked scatter laser, holo field

5 rangers - 60

6 Swooping hawks – 96

8 Warp spiders – 152

Fire prism – 140
Holo field

2 War walkers – 140
Scatter laser/Bright lance

5 Dark reapers – 207
Exarch, fast shot, night vision, 4 x starshot

Defence line – 85
Lascannon

Total: 1850

As it’s not 100% my list I’m sure what’s the best way to attack with it, but I hope I can pick it up quick enough. For now I’m thinking dark reapers go on the lascannon and might be joined by the guardians while the wave serpents go on hunting missions. If the enemy doesn’t have many tanks I might leave the guardians in the wave serpents and help out the wraithguard. I am mainly going to be ignoring flyers and focusing on foot troops. Got to just pray I don’t come across a flyer heavy army.

Something I’m not 100% sure about is the Farseer, while I would drop the spiritstone I want to try it out first. Actually thinking about it I want to drop the farseer all together as I don’t feel he adds to the list much bar guiding the dark reapers.  But again I will see and test it out first.

Now for the 1500 point list

This idea came from the 1850 list but I also wanted to use my wraithknight, so its a fast mech list with hte option to be a slow defensive list if need be.

Spiritseer – 70 (warlord)

5 Wraithguard – 165
Wave serpent – 135
Twin-linked scatter laser, holo field

10 guardians – 110
Bright lance
Wave serpent – 135
Twin-linked scatter laser, holo field

10 Guardians – 110
Bright lance
Wave serpent – 135
Twin-linked scatter laser, holo field

5 Rangers - 60

Wraithknight – 300
Suncannon, scatter laser

2 War walkers – 140
Scatter laser/Lance

Fire Prism – 140
Holo field

Total: 1495

Same with the 1850 list the guardians can multi-role if they need to. The wraithknight is fast enough to join in with the wave serpents. No farseer in this list and again I am going to struggle against flyers. But if I can take out the foot troops I might be able to win regardless of the flyers. I am hoping this list will help me win legally, as since I changed my list it hasn’t been great.

  1. I like the Farseer in support with the Reapers. Perfect Timing, Invisibility, and Guide/ Prescience are just money. I know they are select powers, but all can help out the Reapers. I put the Stone on there incase you roll up Invisibility or Fortune. It will enable you to cast all of your powers regardless of the Warp Charge Level.

For a list like the 1850, I would keep the 3 Serpents together so they all can support each other. If one goes down, the other 2 can make up for it. They make for a pretty good spearhead. Spiders and Hawk can DS where needed, and you have a fair amount of supporting fire to deal some damage.

It would be rare if I didnt keep the Guardians in the Serpent for as long as possible. Make people earn the right to shoot at them by killing the Serpent. They can really unload on a unit and dish out the damage.

I know you said you are worried about fliers, but i think you should be ok. The Icarus obviously can do work. The Reapers Guided are not bad. The Walkers can potentially deal with any flier. The Scatter Lasers on the Serpent will Twin-Link the Shields, and those can really help with fliers. If somehow the Wraithguard have range and hit, they could kill a flier in one hit! I think you are good with fliers. You have potential everywhere.

The biggest key with this list (and any other) is target priority. If you can assess the highest damage target and things you know you can kill in the first turn, then kill them dead and not leave them with a Hullpoint or 1-2 Wounds. I look forward to seeing Battle Reports with the list. I also hope I ddin't give terrible advice!

    Goodluck!

  2. I think that 1500 list, with three Wave Serpents and a Wraithknight, will be money on the table top. Dealing with all of that heat fast enough to make the difference is difficult to do and turn 5 your scoring units hope out, blast the enemy off objectives, and then run onto objectives. All of that while still having a fire base and some (albeit few) options versus flyers.

You've got to play that in a game and let us know how it went.
