Holding against the green tide... Orks vs Blood angels: When angels fall

This week we decided to go against the grain and instead of having a regular game of 40k, or using an expansion (we will in the future) we decided to use our own scenario: When angels fall. So this is the first real test of the home made scenario, meaning chances are it’s not perfectly balanced yet. So this is a battle report between overwhelming Orks and Blood angels, fighting to the last man.

Eldar armoury: Heavy weapons

The Eldar war host have one of the most varied armouries in the entire game. Many of the weapons available can only be used by one unit unfortunately, removing most decisions about weapon choice. However a select few units (guardian defenders and most vehicles) have the option to use heavy weapons from a select list. This article will look at that select list of weapons, comparing their relative strengths and weaknesses for different situations that arise in a game of 40k.

Scenario: When Angels fall...

When a space marine company finds itself surrounded and outnumbered by the enemy, with out support and no possible extraction few options remain. Never willing to be found wanting in the emperors service, the marines will often fight to the last, selling their lives so dearly that the enemy are crippled for the efforts. Such an action is never taken light heartedly by the marine in command, and only ever in the direst of situations.
This scenario represents such a desperate act by marine forces when being attacked by ork forces. Whilst that is what the original scenario was created for there is no reason why it couldn’t be played with other armies.

The all consuming beast... Eldar vs Tyranids 1500

The Tyranids, the dreaded foe that destroys and devours all before it, in a great mass of bodies and teeth. At least, that’s what the fluff says about them. If you hadn’t realised already my game this week was against the mentioned bugs, in an annihilation game with spearhead deployment.

A step to the future...

While i have mainly just been writing battle reports for 40k and fantasy i feel that i could attempt to add a bit more variety to the blog. This wont be very much but its still a step to what i am aiming for.

For the time being this will probably just be me writing articles for what ever race i am playing with. As an example, my first article will be on Eldar heavy weaponry and whats the best use for each and why. Now while this is probably nothing new for many of you, its just a way for me to help any new eldar players who happen upon my site with a bit more insight. But mainly its just to help me be confident about what i am doing in the games i play.

These articles are probably going to be quite rare but i am looking forward to doing them. For any one concerned that it ill get in the way of my few and far between battle reports, they wont, as any time i can get round to playing a game it will always be written up.

That's all from me for now. Malduran.

Blood of the martyr... Eldar vs Blood angels 1500

Well the second battle report for 40k and once again I am up against marines, but this time of the blood angel variety. The mission is capture and control with a dawn of war (again) deployment 1500 points. Taking elder again this wasn’t exactly a bad match up, just not perfect.

The raven and the serpent... Eldar vs Marines 1500

So this is my first 40k battle report for Sulkers Surprise, so please, doesn’t expect much from it. The game was against a vanilla space marine force representing a dark angel’s raven wing force. The mission for the game was Seize ground (4 objectives) with dawn of war deployment. Not exactly what I wanted but it would have to do.
